Adjusting the Prompter Speed

This document shows how to change the speed from the controller, the prompter settings and shows how to adjust the rate of the speed increase and decrease when using the speed buttons.

Changing Speed from Controller

1. Display the Controller by pressing the Controller button in the titlebar. ControllerButton

2. Use the Speed slider to adjust the scrolling speed. SpeedSlider

Moving the slider to the left will decrease the speed, moving to the right will increase the speed.

3. Use the Speed buttons to refine the speed. SpeedButtons

The (-) button will reduce the speed and the (+) button will increase the speed.

 

Changing Speed and Speed Range from Prompter Settings

1. Show the Settings by pressing the Settings button. SettingsButton

2. Display the prompter settings by pressing the Prompter option. PrompterOptions

3. Use the Speed slider to adjust the scrolling speed. SpeedSlider

Moving the slider to the left will decrease the speed, moving to the right will increase the speed.

4. Select the appropriate speed range for the script .SpeedRange

The Slow speed range has a maximum speed of 20% when the speed slider is at its maximum. The Fast speed range has a maximum speed of 100% when the speed slider is at its maximum.

For scripts that have small fonts and require slower, more precise speed adjustments use the Slow range. For scripts that have large fonts and require faster speeds, use the Fast range.

 

Adjusting the Speed Increase/ Decrease Rate for Buttons

The influence on the increase and decrease speed buttons can be adjusted. This affects the speed buttons on the controller, as well as the speed increase and decrease from remotes.

1. Display the Settings by pressing the Settings button. SettingsButton

2. Display the Prompter Settings by pressing the Prompter option. PrompterOption

3. Press the Advanced button.

4. Use the Speed Increment slider to adjust the influence of the speed buttons. SpeedIncrement

Moving the slider to the left will reduce the influence of the speed buttons, moving to the right will increase the influence of the speed buttons.

 

Adjusting the Speed for Total Scrolling Time

It is possible to adjust the speed based on a desired total scrolling time for the entire text content. For example if a playing a song that should be 3:30, it is possible to enter 3:30 as the total scrolling time. The speed will automatically be adjusted so that when played from the beginning it will take three minutes and thirty seconds to reach the absolute end.

This feature can be accessed from the Controller, or from title bar tools. For more information on customizing the title bar to include additional controls, see Titlebar.

 

Using the title bar tool:

TimedSpeedTool

The title bar tool displays the amount remaining in the script when played from the current position at the current speed. This value changes as the position of the text changes or the speed changes.

Tapping the tool displays a dialog to enter the total scrolling time for the script when played from the beginning.

 

Using the Controller:

TimeSpeedControl

The Speed detail on the controller displays either the speed percentage, the elapsed time (E) or the remaining time (R). Tapping the unit will change the display type.

When displaying either the elapsed time or the remaining time, tapping on the left side (value side) button will display a dialog to enter the total scroll time. The scroll speed will be updated to fit the timing.

 

Adjusting the Speed By Entering Text

It is possible to enter the speed textually as a percentage.

The speed can be changed textually from two places, the Controller or from a title bar tool. For more information on customizing the title bar to include additional controls, see Titlebar.

 

Using the title bar tool:

The title bar tool displays the current speed as a percentage.

Tapping the tool displays a dialog to change the speed by entering the speed as a percentage.

 

Using the Controller:

TimeSpeedControl

The Speed detail on the controller displays either the speed percentage, the elapsed time (E) or the remaining time (R). Tapping the unit will change the display type.

When displaying either the speed as a percentage, tapping the control will display a dialog to change the speed by entering a percentage as text.
