Speech Recognition Remote

Speech can be used to control various prompter functions, such as play/pause, fast-forward, rewind, etc. Speech can also be used to automatically scroll the script when words are detected from the context of the text. Specific words can also be omitted from detection if needed.

Note:

Speech Recognition is only available in English.

You must agree to allowing the app the use the microphone.

No audio will be recorded or transmitted.

 

WARNING:

Speech Recognition should only be used in a quiet environment. Speech recognition is not perfect. The app could interpret background noise as words in the script and improperly scroll the content.

Do not use the Speech Recognition feature in front of a crowd or audience.

Only use Speech Recognition while near the device and in close range of the microphone.

1. Open the settings by pressing the settings button. SettingsButton

2. Select the Remote option. RemoteOption

3. Select the Speech Recognition Remote option. SpeechRemote

4. Press the Start/Stop button to enable and disable the speech recognition remote. SpeechSettings

5. Use the Pause button to pause speech recognition.

6. To have the speech recognition automatically scroll the script based on the textual content of the script, set the Scroll Script option to ON.

7. Press the Function Words button to display the list of function words that control prompter functions.

8. Press the Omit Words button to display the list of words that are ignored in the script.

9. Adjust the Noise Threshold slider to adjust the tolerance to background noise.

10. Adjust the Silence Detect Time to a suitable time. This is the amount of silence that must be detected before the speech recognizer will attempt to decipher the phrase.

11. Adjust the Score Threshold slider to a score that is effective for your situation.

Note: The Score Threshold is the most difficult setting to get calibrated correctly. Enable the speech recognizer and adjust this value as you speak, watch the status label at the top of the speech settings for phrase scores. Set the threshold to a value to will accommodate the scores.

12. While the speech recognizer is listening, the recording indicator is displayed in the title bar. However, no recording or transmission of audio is taking place.

When the recognizer is hearing a phrase, a green indicator will rotate around the recording indicator. SpeechListen

When the recognizer is analyzing a phrase, an orange indicator will rotate around the recording indicator. SpeechThink

Function Words

Functions words are words that control specific prompter functions such as play, fast-forward, rewind, etc.

Note: Using function words in combination with the Scroll Script feature should be done with caution. If a function word also appears in the text of the script, it may result in unexpected behavior.

1. From the Speech Settings, press the Function Words button to display the list function words. WordList

2. Press the Add (+) button to add a new function word to the list.

3. Enter the word to use to control the function into the word text box.

4. Press the function button next to the text box and select the function to use for the word.

5. Press the Default button to replace the functions with a default list to control most functions.

6. Press the Edit button to remove functions from the list. Press the remove button and then the delete button. It is possible to swipe items in the list to display the delete button.

 

Omit Words

Words from the script can be omitted from the recognition by listing them in the Omit Words list.

1. Press the Omit Words button.

2. Tap in the open area below to begin entering text. Enter words for the recognizer to ignore, separated by commas, spaces, or new lines.

3. Press the Options (•••) button for options. SpeechOmitOptions

4. Use the Word Length button to enter a minimum word length. All words that do not have as many letters as the minimum will be added to the list.

5. Use the Clear Words button to easily clear the list.
