This document describes to configuration and use of a game controller as a remote control for prompter functions.
Requirements: The game controller must be paired with the iOS device. Use the system blue tooth settings and follow the instructions that came with your game controller. Only game controllers that are made for iOS devices will work. |
1. Open the settings by pressing the settings button.
2. Select the Remote option.
3. Select the Game Controller option.
4. Connected controllers will be displayed in the list.
5. To configure a controller, select it from the list. The configuration menu will be displayed.
The game controller image displays the functions assigned to each control. The name of the controller is displayed at the top of the menu, with the name of the current configuration.
6. The controller number is displayed at the top of the screen. To assign a specific number to a controller, tap the desired number. This is typically not necessary.
7. Pressing a button on the game controller will highlight the button and the control in the menu. This is useful for testing controls during configuration.
8. To change a function for a control, tap either the control on the controller graphic, or the label for the function.
It is also possible to enter Edit mode by pressing the Edit button. While in Edit mode, pressing a button on the physical game controller will prompt the change of the control's function.
9. When a control is selected to change its function, a list of possible functions is displayed. Select the function to assign to the control.
Presets can be created for different controller configurations. This allows different layouts to be created and reloaded easily.
1. Press the Options button to display the Game Controller options.
2. Press the Presets option to display the Game Controller Presets.
3. To add a preset, press the Add button (+).
4. To remove a preset, swipe from right to left and press the Delete button. Or press the Edit button to enter edit mode and delete the presets.
5. To activate a preset, select it from the list.
The advanced settings for the game controller provide additional options to make the controls momentary, repeat or invert.
1. Press the Options button to display the Game Controller options.
2. Press the Advanced option to display the advanced options menu.
3. To make a control behave momentarily, set the cooresponding Momentary switch to the ON position. When a control is configured to be momentary, the function is executed when the button is depressed and when it is released. Otherwise the function is only executed when the button is depressed. For example, if a control is configured to be momentary and control the Play/Pause function for the script, the script will start to play when the button is depressed and stop scrolling when the button is released.
4. To make a control repeat, set the cooresponding Repeat switch to the ON position. Enter the repeat rate in seconds into the Rate field. When a control is configured to repeat, as long as the control is depressed, the function will continue to execute as the specified repeat rate.
5. If needed, it is possible to invert the X and Y axis for the Right and Left Stick controls. Set the cooresponding inversion switches as needed. Only the Right and Left Stick controls have the option to invert axis. The Momentary and Repeat options do not apply to the Right and Left Stick controls. The Right and Left Stick controls repeat by default, but the repeat rate can be adjusted as needed.
Game Controller Type
All controllers must support the Basic profile. It is not a requirement that a controller supports the extended profile. However, most game controllers on the market support the extended profile. It is possible to change the profile for a controller if it is not detected automatically. This is typically not required and the configuration for the extended profile will also work for the basic profile.
The basic profile is similar to many older platform game console controllers. The extended profile offers more controls and is similar to many modern console game controllers. This option is determined by the game controller that you purchased.
1. Press the Options button to display the Game Controller options.
2. Select either Basic or Extended to change the controller profile. This option will change depending on the current selection.
