MIDI Keyboard

The MIDI Keyboard view provides an alternate way to view the configured MIDI controls.

Access MIDI Keyboard

  1. Press the Settings button.
  2. Select the Remotes menu.
  3. Select the MIDI option.
  4. Press the Keyboard button at the top of the settings.

View Fullscreen

  1. Press the Fullscreen button at the top of the screen.
  2. When finished, press the Close button in the title bar.
Note: When displaying fullscreen on iPad, the Program Changes list and Control Changes list will be presented side-by-side. On iPhone, or when not in fullscreen, an additional control will be available to switch between Program, Control and Record.

Adding Controls

  1. Press the Edit button to enter edit mode.
  2. Press the Add Program Change option in the program list, the Add Control Change option in the control list, or press a key on the keyboard.
  3. If adding a Note on or off, select whether to use the Note On, or Note Off message.
  4. Configure the control as outlined in Configure MIDI Control.

Removing Controls

  1. Press the Edit button to enter edit mode.
  2. For Program and Control changes, press the Remove button and then the Delete button to remove the control.
  3. For Notes, press the the key on the keyboard and choose Remove Note On Control or Remove Note Off Control options.
  4. For a Pitch Bend control, tap and hold on the pitch wheel control button to show the context menu, then select the Remove Control option.

Pitch Control

  1. Press the Pitch Wheel button at the top left of the keyboard.
  2. Drag the Pitch Wheel up or down to use the pitch wheel. If MIDI destinations are connected, pitch messagges will be sent to them.
  3. Press the Edit button to enter edit mode.
  4. Press the Pitch Wheel Control button at the bottom of the pitch wheel to assign a prompter control to pitch messages.
  5. Select a prompter control from the list.

Keyboard Velocity

The velocity is used for the soft keyboard note velocity. This velocity is sent to connected destinations and used for recorded MIDI notes generated from the soft keyboard.

  1. Use the Left/Right arrows to incrementally change the velocity.
  2. Tap and drag the velocity control left or right to increase or decrease the velocity.
  3. Tap the velocity value and enter a new value using the keyboard.

Channel

The MIDI Channel is used by the soft keyboard and pitch wheel. The channel is used when sending MIDI messages to connected destinations and when recording notes from the soft keyboard. The keyboard will only show configured controls for the selected channel. Depending on available screen space, the channel control can be displayed in two ways.

When showing a small control, like the velocity control:

  1. Use the Left/Right arrows to incrementally change the channel.
  2. Tap and drag the channel control left or right to change between channels.
  3. Tap the channel value and enter a new channel using the keyboard.

When showing the channel strip, tap the channel number to activate the channel. The active channel on the channel strip will appear green. Other channels that have configured controls will appear orange.

Program Change Button

If one or more Program Change controls are configured, the Program Change button (PC) will appear at the top of the soft keyboard. Pressing this button gives access to individual Program Change buttons for configured Program Change controls. Using these controls will send corresponding MIDI messages to connected destinations, or record the Program Changes in a MIDI sequence.

Controller Change Dials

If Controller Change controls are configured, dials for each will appear above the soft keyboard. Tapping and dragging up or down will adjust the value for the Controller, sending the Controller Change MIDI message to connected distinations or recording them in a sequence. When Controller Change MIDI messages are received from connected sources, the dials will be updated with the received values. The dials will also be updated when corresponding prompter controls are used.

Keyboard Lock

Press the Lock button to lock or unlock the scrolling of the soft keyboard.
