Replace Battery

Ensure that the battery or batteries in the remote are fresh.

Ensure that the LED illuminates when a button is pressed. If your remote has fresh batteries and the LED does not light up, the remote may not be functioning properly.

Microphone Permission

Ensure that the app is authorized to use the microphone in the device's privacy settings.

You can check the privacy settings by going to Settings App>Privacy. Enable the use of the microphone for the app.

Verify Audio

You can verify that the touch tone remote is operational by recording and playing back its output.

  1. Open the Voice Memos.
  2. Plug the touch tone remote into the headphone jack.
  3. Press the Record button (red circle).
  4. Press the buttons on the touch tone remote.
  5. Stop the recording.
  6. Unplug the remote from the headphone jack.
  7. Ensure that the volume of the device is adequate.
  8. Play back the audio recording. You should hear touch tone combinations, or the remote may not be functioning properly.

Relaunch App

Exit the app, quit the app from running in the background, relaunch the app.

Restart Device

Sometimes restarting the device will solve some problems.

Reinstall App

Delete the app and reinstall it from the App Store.
