Text to Speech

The Text to Speech feature can read the main text content using a variety of voices.

Accessing Speech Feature

  1. Press the Settings buttons.
  2. Press the Prompter option.
  3. Select the Text to Speech option.

Controls

Use the controls at the top of the menu to control speech playback.

Speech controls are also available for use in controllers and remotes.

Voice

Changing Voices

  1. Select the Voice option.
  2. Select a voice from the list.

Adding Additional Voices

  1. Open the System settings.
  2. Select the Accessibility option.
  3. Select the VoiceOver option.
  4. Select the Speech option.
  5. Select the Voice option.
  6. Press the Download button for any voices to download.

Pitch

Use the Pitch control to adjust the pitch of the voice, making it higher or lower.

Rate

Use the Rate control to adjust how fast the text is spoken.

Pre Delay

Determines how long the speech delays before speaking a phrase. This feature is only available if Advanced Features are enabled.

Comma Delay

Determines how long the speech delays when a comma is encountered.This feature is only available if Advanced Features are enabled.

Period Delay

Determines how long the speech delays when a period is encountered.This feature is only available if Advanced Features are enabled.

Scroll Text

Enable this feature to scroll the text content while it is being spoken. If enabled, it is not possible to manually scroll the text or use the playback controls effectively during speech.

Scroll Speed

Determines how smooth the text scrolls when the Scroll Text feature is enabled.

Loop

Enable this option to automatically restart at the beginning when the document is finished being read by the text-to-speech feature.

Wildcard

An optional character used to activate the speech preset during speech playback. The purpose is to automatically change voices during speech playback.. Do not use a common character that would appear in the text and should be spoken. Do not use the same characters as any marker tags.
